1. Information We Collect

When you use 1099-B Converter, we collect minimal information:

• Uploaded Documents: 1099-B PDF files you upload for conversion. These are processed in real-time and permanently deleted immediately after conversion. We never store your documents.
• Extracted Data: The structured transaction data extracted from your 1099-B, along with the uploaded file's name, is stored in your account for 90 days so you can review and download your files from the My Conversions page. After 90 days it is deleted automatically — or you can delete any conversion yourself at any time.
• Account Information: Your email address (and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google), used to create your account, sign you in, and email you sign-in links and conversion results.
• Usage Data: We track basic usage information such as IP address (for anti-abuse and captcha gating), browser type, and conversion count. We also use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which set cookies to measure how the site is used — page views, anonymous events (sign-ups, uploads, purchases), and session replays with financial content masked. Neither tool receives your documents or extracted financial data.
• Payment Information: When you make a purchase, payment details are sent directly to Stripe and never touch our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Process your 1099-B conversions into CSV, TXF, and Excel formats
• Detect and prevent abuse (e.g., trigger Turnstile captcha after the first upload per IP)
• Process payments through Stripe
• Sign you in and email you sign-in links and conversion notifications
• Measure site usage and advertising performance through anonymous analytics events (Google Analytics)
• Improve the accuracy and reliability of our extraction service
• Send you technical notices if you contact support

We do NOT use your information to:

• Train AI models on your personal financial data
• Sell your data, or share your documents and extracted financial data with anyone beyond the processors listed in Section 6
• Send unrelated marketing emails without your consent
• Build profiles about your investment activity or financial situation

3. Document Security

Your 1099-B forms contain sensitive financial information. We take this seriously:

• No document storage: Your uploaded PDF is processed in memory and deleted immediately after extraction. It is never written to permanent storage.
• Encryption in transit: All data between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
• No human review: Your documents are processed entirely by automated systems. No employee ever sees your 1099-B forms.
• Limited data retention: Extracted data is available in your account for 90 days, then permanently deleted.

4. Payments

We use Stripe to process payments. Your credit card information is sent directly to Stripe and is never stored on our servers. Please review Stripe's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle your payment data.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: The My Conversions page shows everything stored in your account. Beyond your conversions, the account holds only your email address and basic profile information, which you can request from us at any time.
• Deletion: Extracted data is automatically deleted after 90 days, and you can delete any conversion yourself from the My Conversions page. You can also request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.

6. Third-Party Services

1099-B Converter uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic (Claude AI): For intelligent data extraction from your 1099-B forms. The text content of your document is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy for details.
• Stripe: For payment processing. Your payment data is handled directly by Stripe.
• Google Sign-In: If you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your email address, name, and profile picture with us. Please review Google's Privacy Policy for details.
• Resend: For delivering transactional emails such as sign-in links and conversion notifications.
• Google Analytics: For anonymous usage and conversion measurement (page views, sign-ups, purchases). Your documents and extracted transactions are never sent to Google Analytics. Please review Google's Privacy Policy for details.
• Microsoft Clarity: For session replays and heatmaps that help us improve usability. Areas containing your financial data — extracted transactions, totals, and file names — are masked and never recorded. Please review Microsoft's Privacy Statement for details.
• Hetzner: For server hosting. Our servers are located in data centers in the United States.

7. Children's Privacy

1099-B Converter is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
