1. Information We Collect

When you use 1099-B Converter, we collect minimal information:

• Uploaded Documents: 1099-B PDF files you upload for conversion. These are processed in real-time and permanently deleted immediately after conversion. We never store your documents.
• Extracted Data: The structured transaction data extracted from your 1099-B is temporarily stored to allow you to review and download your files. This data is automatically deleted after 24 hours.
• Usage Data: We track basic, anonymous usage information such as IP address (for free tier limits), browser type, and conversion count. We do not use cookies for tracking beyond session management and free tier enforcement.
• Payment Information: When you make a purchase, payment details are sent directly to Stripe and never touch our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Process your 1099-B conversions into CSV, TXF, and Excel formats
• Enforce free tier limits (3 conversions per month)
• Process payments through Stripe
• Improve the accuracy and reliability of our extraction service
• Send you technical notices if you contact support

We do NOT use your information to:

• Train AI models on your personal financial data
• Share or sell your data to third parties
• Send marketing emails (we don't collect your email unless you contact us)
• Build profiles about your investment activity or financial situation

3. Document Security

Your 1099-B forms contain sensitive financial information. We take this seriously:

• No document storage: Your uploaded PDF is processed in memory and deleted immediately after extraction. It is never written to permanent storage.
• Encryption in transit: All data between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
• No human review: Your documents are processed entirely by automated systems. No employee ever sees your 1099-B forms.
• Minimal data retention: Extracted data is available for download for 24 hours, then permanently deleted.

4. Payments

We use Stripe to process payments. Your credit card information is sent directly to Stripe and is never stored on our servers. Please review Stripe's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle your payment data.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Since we don't store your documents or require accounts, there is minimal personal data to access.
• Deletion: Extracted data is automatically deleted after 24 hours. If you need immediate deletion, contact us.
• Opt-out: You can use 1099-B Converter without creating an account or providing any personal information beyond the document you're converting.

6. Third-Party Services

1099-B Converter uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic (Claude AI): For intelligent data extraction from your 1099-B forms. The text content of your document is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy for details.
• Stripe: For payment processing. Your payment data is handled directly by Stripe.
• Hetzner: For server hosting. Our servers are located in secure data centers.

7. Children's Privacy

1099-B Converter is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
