Webull Tax Documents — When They Arrive, Where to Find Them, How to Import

You're looking for your Webull 1099 and the app keeps sending you somewhere unfamiliar — a clearing firm portal you've never logged into, with a separate password you never set. Or TurboTax's broker list has no Webull entry that works, and the one that looks right returns nothing. Neither problem is your fault, and both have a specific cause.

Webull's tax documents are complicated by its clearing arrangements: depending on when you opened your account and what you traded, your forms may come from Webull directly, from Apex Clearing, or from more than one source in the same year. This guide covers when Webull tax documents are released, where each one lives, and how to get the data into your tax software.

Form 5498 Late May IRA contributions — informational only

Like most self-directed brokers, Webull uses close to the full window and posts consolidated 1099s around mid-February, near the February 15 statutory deadline.

The Apex Clearing Complication

This is the part that sends people in circles.

Webull originally cleared trades through Apex Clearing Corporation, a third-party clearing firm, and Apex — not Webull — produced the tax forms. Webull later moved to self-clearing through its own entity. The consequence for tax documents:

  • Accounts that predate the migration may have historical 1099s issued by Apex Clearing, accessible through Apex's own tax document portal rather than the Webull app.
  • Accounts in the transition year can receive two separate 1099s for a single tax year — one covering the Apex period, one covering the Webull-cleared period. Both must be reported. Filing only one understates your activity.
  • Newer accounts get a single Webull-issued form and never touch Apex at all.

If you traded through more than one Apex-cleared broker, you may also see the same clearing firm's name across multiple documents — a situation covered in our guide to Apex Clearing 1099-Bs from multiple brokers.

Check for a second form before you file. If your Webull 1099 shows fewer transactions than you remember making, that's the signal.

Where to Find Your Webull Tax Documents

In the app:

  1. Tap Menu (bottom right)
  2. Tap Documents or Statements & Documents
  3. Select Tax Documents
  4. Choose the tax year and open the PDF

On the web:

  1. Log in at webull.com
  2. Open the account menu, then Documents
  3. Select Tax Documents and the year

For Apex-issued forms, Webull provides a link out to the Apex tax portal, or emails a direct access link. If neither works, Webull support can retrieve the form — Apex's portal often requires an activation step people never completed.

Note the Document ID on the form. Third-party imports require it along with your account number.

What's on the Webull 1099

The consolidated 1099 packages:

  • 1099-B — all stock, ETF, and options dispositions with proceeds, cost basis, dates, and wash sale adjustments. This is the section that becomes Form 8949 and Schedule D.
  • 1099-DIV — dividends and capital gain distributions
  • 1099-INT — interest, including cash management interest
  • 1099-MISC — promotional stock and referral income

Two Webull-specific things to watch.

Options volume. Webull's user base skews heavily toward options, and an active options account produces an enormous number of 1099-B rows — every expired contract, every assignment, every leg of a spread. Reading them correctly matters, and our guide to expired, assigned, and exercised options covers the reporting for each.

Wash sales. Frequent round-tripping in the same tickers generates heavy wash sale adjustments. Those disallowed amounts appear in the adjustment column and must carry onto Form 8949 — see our wash sale explainer.

How to Import Webull Tax Documents

TurboTax. Search the broker list for Webull. If your form was issued by Apex, search for Apex Clearing instead — this is the mismatch behind most "Webull import not working" reports. You'll need:

  • Your account number as printed on the 1099
  • The Document ID from the form header

Where import breaks:

  • Wrong entity selected. Webull versus Apex, as above.
  • Transaction volume. Options traders regularly clear several thousand rows, well past what direct import handles. See handling a large 1099-B.
  • Timing. Importing before the form finalizes returns a credential-shaped error.
  • Two forms, one import. Importing the Webull form and stopping leaves the Apex period unreported.

Our full troubleshooting sequence is in Webull 1099-B TurboTax import not working.

TaxAct, H&R Block, FreeTaxUSA. Generally CSV upload or manual entry rather than direct connection. Each has its own required column layout — see the TaxAct CSV format and the H&R Block guide.

For high-volume options accounts, the practical path is converting the PDF to a structured file and uploading that. Our CSV vs TXF vs Excel comparison covers which format each program accepts.

Late, Missing, or Corrected Forms

No documents in the app. Confirm the tax year selection, then check whether your form is Apex-issued and living in the clearing firm's portal.

Your 1099 looks short. Almost always the two-form situation described above. Confirm your full-year activity against your account statements.

A corrected 1099 arrives. Compare it against the original. Corrections that only reclassify dividend character may not change your tax at all; a changed 1099-B figure requires an amended return on Form 1040-X.

You closed your Webull account. Document access generally survives closure. If you can't log in, contact support — and if the form is Apex-issued, you may need to go through Apex directly.

FAQ

When does Webull release tax documents?

Consolidated 1099s post around mid-February, near the February 15 deadline. Retirement and promotional forms arrive in late January.

Why is my Webull 1099 from Apex Clearing?

Webull historically cleared through Apex, which issued the tax forms. Depending on your account's age, your form may come from Apex, from Webull, or from both in a transition year.

Do I need to file two Webull 1099s?

If you received two — one Apex-cleared and one Webull-cleared for the same year — yes. Both cover real activity and both were filed with the IRS.

Where do I find my Webull Document ID?

On the first page of the 1099 PDF, near your account number. Every third-party import requires it.

Which broker do I pick in TurboTax for Webull?

Match the entity that issued your form. If the 1099 says Apex Clearing, choose Apex Clearing, not Webull. Choosing wrong returns an empty result rather than a useful error.

Does Webull report to the IRS?

Yes. Every 1099 Webull or Apex sends you is also filed with the IRS.

How do I handle thousands of options transactions?

Direct import isn't reliable at that volume. Convert the PDF to CSV or TXF and upload the file instead.

Bottom Line

Webull's tax documents are ordinary in content and awkward in delivery. The two things that matter: confirm whether your form comes from Webull or Apex Clearing before you go looking for it, and confirm you received every form covering the year before you file.

After that it's a standard consolidated 1099 — with an options-heavy 1099-B section that most direct imports can't chew through.
